In fact, the names of James, Inez, and Betty famously appeared in Swift’s 2020 Folklore trilogy of songs, with “Betty” becoming one of the album’s most recognizable tracks.
Despite those close ties, reports indicate that none of Swift’s five godchildren attended the wedding celebrations. According to sources, the only children who played a role in the ceremony were the daughters of Travis Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, who reportedly served as flower girls.
Friendship With Jaime King Reportedly Faded
Taylor Swift became Leo Newman’s godmother in 2015 after Jaime King personally asked her to take on the special role. At the time, the two shared a close friendship and were frequently seen together at public events, including Swift’s famous Fourth of July celebration in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, attended by celebrities such as Emma Stone and Lena Dunham.
However, people familiar with their relationship say the friendship gradually faded over the years. One music industry insider explained that Swift and King became close during King’s pregnancy, but they did not have a long history of friendship before that.
“Taylor forms strong friendships quickly, and Jaime happened to be part of her life during an important moment,” the insider claimed. “But they haven’t been seen together publicly for years.”
Earlier reports also suggested that the friendship became strained as King dealt with several personal challenges. In recent years, the actress lost custody of both Leo and her older son, James, following legal proceedings connected to her failure to complete a court-ordered drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Sources claimed those difficulties placed significant distance between King and Swift, although neither party has publicly commented on the status of their relationship.
Representatives for Taylor Swift, Jaime King, and Blake Lively declined to comment on the reports.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Were Reportedly Elsewhere
While Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have been among Swift’s closest celebrity friends for nearly a decade, they were reportedly absent from the wedding celebrations as well. According to reports, the couple spent the day of Swift’s rehearsal dinner attending their daughter Betty’s horse competition in Lake Placid rather than joining the festivities.
Speculation about the status of Swift and Lively’s friendship has grown in recent months following Lively’s legal dispute with It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni. Court filings reportedly revealed that Lively had involved Swift during discussions over script revisions, allegedly asking the singer to express support for changes made to the screenplay.
Additional reports also referenced private text messages from late 2024 in which Swift allegedly acknowledged that there had been “a little bit of a shift” in her friendship with Lively. In the reported exchange, Swift reportedly described some of Lively’s communication as feeling impersonal, comparing it to “a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees.”
Neither Swift nor Lively has publicly addressed the reported messages.
Other Former Members of Swift’s Circle
Sources also claimed that singer and longtime friend Todrick Hall was not invited to the wedding celebrations. According to one insider, Hall’s tendency to discuss private details about Swift’s life allegedly contributed to the distance between them.
“Taylor gets close to people quickly, spends a lot of time with them, and sometimes relationships simply drift apart,” the source said.
Model Martha Hunt, another former member of Swift’s famous “squad,” was also reportedly absent from the guest list. Hunt appeared alongside Swift in the 2015 “Bad Blood” music video and remained close to the singer for several years. Although Hunt attended an Eras Tour concert in 2023 and watched the performance from the VIP section, insiders claim that was the last known interaction between the two.
Lena Dunham Remains One of Swift’s Closest Friends
Unlike several former members of Swift’s inner circle, writer and actress Lena Dunham continues to share a close friendship with the pop superstar. Dunham reportedly attended both nights of the wedding celebrations and even delivered a speech during the rehearsal dinner.
In her 2026 memoir, Famesick, Dunham reflected on parts of her personal life and hinted at tensions involving an unnamed New Zealand singer and her then-fiancé, music producer Jack Antonoff. Although the individual was never identified, readers widely speculated about the reference.
Despite years of public scrutiny surrounding some of her friendships, insiders say Swift tends to judge people based on her personal experiences rather than media headlines.
“Taylor has always believed that if someone treats her well, she’ll return that loyalty,” one music insider explained. “She doesn’t let headlines decide who she stays friends with, which is one reason some of her longest friendships, including Lena Dunham, have endured.”
